Ironman will put on a second race in Haines City, Florida in December, 2021, the company announced. The second Ironman 70.3 Florida race will take place on Dec. 12, a week after Challenge Daytona (Dec. 3 to 5). Haines City is about 150 km from Daytona.

Florida has been one of the most welcoming states for triathlon events since the start of the pandemic, with many triathlon and running events going ahead throughout the pandemic. There were a number of major events in the state, too – while Ironman cancelled the Florida 70.3 race which had originally been rescheduled to the same weekend in December as this year, it did put on Ironman Florida in Panama City Beach last November. Challenge hosted two large events in Florida during the pandemic – Challenge Daytona last December and Challenge Miami earlier this month.

The April edition of Ironman 70.3 Florida was won by Emma Pallant and Bart Aernouts and had 1,473 participants. Ironman will no-doubt be hoping to attract a larger crowd for the second 70.3 Florida race in December.
