Well so much for the season winding down! Jan Frodeno has announced that he’ll be racing at Ironman California at the end of the month. His entry was added to the list yesterday. The race, scheduled for October 24, will be a pro men’s only event. The pro women will compete at Ironman Florida in November.
“Just getting back into training after a few easier days and looking forward to going to California – Sacramento, first ever Ironman edition there, and looking forward to getting the year off with a big Ironman, I haven’t done one yet this year obviously,” the three-time Kona champ and fastest man ever over the full-distance said on Instagram today.
The stacked field includes Ironman 70.3 world champion Gustav Iden, who will be making his full-distance debut at the event. Other potential favorites on the list include Ben Hoffman (although he took third at Ironman Chattanooga, so won’t need the race to qualify for Kona next year), Boris Stein and Cameron Wurf. Lionel Saners’ name is still on the list, but he’s said that he won’t be attending the race.
