Jan Frodeno out of Kona 2022

After Jan Frodeno previously exited injured during Challenge Roth, the former World Champion has just let it be known that he will be skipping the Ironman World Championships in Kona this year. This after he crashed while biking a few weeks ago, leaving him with quite a heavy injury. “It is always tricky to recover well and at the same time keep training 35 hours a week. Scans show that it’s better to take rest.”

Frodeno will undergo two to five surgeries on his hip, the first of which will take place as early as next Thursday. “This ends my dreams of Kona for 2022. This gives me a chance to reset and start over for the last fourteen months in this sport.”
