The Valley of the Sun provided a backdrop for the 19th edition of Ironman Arziona (Age Group only) on Sunday, November 19, 2023.

IM reported that its full distance race in Arizona saw more than 1,700 athletes from 38 countries, regions and territories, and all 50 US states converge in Tempe, AZ.

Athletes began their IM journey with a single-loop, 2.4-mile swim in Tempe Town Lake. After exiting the first transition, athletes then took on the three-loop, 112-mile bike course. This took them through the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community and out to the Beeline Highway, followed by a climb to the turnaround to take them back to the Transition area.

The fast two-loop, 26.2-mile run course was along the banks of Tempe Town Lake. The athletes passed through Papago Park and Rio Salado Parkway before crossing the finish line just outside of Tempe Beach Park.
