Last year, Jan Frodeno – according to many the most successful triathlete ever – said farewell as a pro athlete. Now, however, rumors are spreading fast, after the PTO announced the T100 series early this week and Frodeno openly flirted with a comeback afterward.

“Fair to say the fear of missing out is real after the PTO T100 World Tour announcement. Can I get a wildcard to travel the world again Emma Snowsill?”, Frodeno asked his own wife on socials. It is not clear if Frodeno is really considering a comeback, but it certainly cannot be ruled out.

Twenty men and 20 women have been selected for the T100 series: they are guaranteed participation and must race at least six of the eight races. A number of athletes will receive wildcards to start as well. Biggest absentees for now are Kristian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden, although this is not unexpected, as they are focusing entirely on the Paris Olympics and the Ironman World Championships in Kona.
