While most of today’s attention may have been focused on the WTCS Yokohama, there was also racing in Italy, as the Europe Triathlon Cup Caorle took place there. The win in the men’s event went to Italian Alessio Crociani, while Alissa Konig managed to win the women’s race.

Konig won the Sprint Distance – 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5-kilometer run – in a time of 56:55, making her the strongest athlete of the day by far. Runner-up Franka Rust came in second; the German athlete finished in a time of 57:30. Dutch Robin Dreyling finished third in 57:32.

In the men’s race, the differences were even smaller. Crociani won the race in a time of 51:24, only four seconds ahead of Frenchman Jules Rethoret, who finished second in 51:28. Nathan Grayel, also French, was third in 51:31. For Crociani, it is already the second win of the season, having already won the Oceania Cup Wanaka earlier this year.
