German athlete Frederic Funk appears to have a fair and good ability to put things into perspective and also not shy about looking honestly at his own performance. Last weekend he finished more than ten minutes behind Jelle Geens, the winner of the PTO T100 Vegas, and Funk is talking very honest about that. “Tenth place at T100 Lake Las Vegas doesn’t look too bad on paper, but was indeed a bad day for me,” he said.

“I was very close to giving up during the race. I’m very proud of myself for overcoming these negative thoughts and pushing through until the finish, respecting my competitors, the sport and everyone who supports me on my journey. A few days after the race I feel physically and mentally recovered and I’m ready for one last training block and race this season: The T100 Grand Final in Dubai in just 4 weeks.”
