Ironman Opts for History and Heads to Chattanooga for 2027 IM 70.3 World Championship

A step back in time: exactly ten years after Ironman hosted its Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Chattanooga, USA – and first began splitting the men’s and women’s races across two days – the organization is returning next year, in 2027, to host the Ironman 70.3 World Championship there once again.

The return to Chattanooga makes it immediately clear that Nice – a city no longer looking to invest heavily in Ironman – will indeed not be hosting the World Championship over the 70.3 distance in the coming years.

While this year’s Ironman 70.3 World Championship will still take place in Nice, next year the circus will travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee, on August 27, 28, and 29. The announcement of the new location comes somewhat late – though still in the nick of time – given that the qualification period for the 2027 IM 70.3 World Championship kicks off this coming July.

Chattanooga has been home to a successful Ironman 70.3 for years, and the venue recently signed a five-year contract with the Ironman Pro Series.
