[VIDEO] Norwegians Defy All Laws of Nature in Run-Up to Ironman Frankfurt

Heat prep in full swing for Gustav Iden and Casper Stornes (Picture: Instagram)

With temperatures soaring toward 40°C, it is exceptionally – if not extremely – hot in Frankfurt. For now, Sunday’s Ironman Frankfurt has not been called off, where male pro athletes will battle it out for the European title. Reason enough for Gustav Iden and Casper Stornes to prepare in a highly striking manner: dressed in multiple layers, including gloves and beanies, they went for a run through the city in the swelering heat today.

While one European race after another is being canceled, behind-the-scenes discussions are underway at Ironman Frankfurt regarding a potential shortening of the event. However, no official announcements have been made yet, let alone any indication of the race being canceled altogether. This means Sunday is bound to be a hot and grueling day for both the pro athletes and the thousands of Age Groupers on the start list. That is precisely why Iden and Stornes headed outside to train today fully bundled up in thick winter gear. Bizarre footage:
