After three races – previously in Montreal and Sursee and today in London – Sophie Linn has crowned herself SLT Arena Games world champion. The Australian athlete finished third in London, earning enough points for the overall world title.
The race in London – the so-called Grand Final that was thus all-decisive for the final standings – consisted of three heats, with the swim-bike-run alternating in order each time. Each heat consisted of a 200-meter swim, a 4-kilometer bike and a 1-kilometer run. In the third and final heat, the ladies started based on the time differences created in heats 1 and 2.
Beth Potter dominated the first and the all-deciding third heat, while it was Cassandre Beaugrand who was able to stay closest each time, and winning the second heat. Sophie Linn was strong all day and raced consistently at the front.
After three heats, Potter had a 22-second lead over Beaugrand, while Linn finished third at 42 seconds.
In the battle for the world title, Sophie Linn won with 659 points after races in Montreal, Sursee and London. American Gina Sereno ended up as second with 589 points. Dutch Rani Skrabanja ended up on the podium as well: thanks to her 579 points, she saw herself finishing third after an indoor season of racing.
