The 2024 edition of the Giro d’Italia Women, the first to be organised by RCS Sport, will start in Brescia in the northern Italian region of Lombardy on July 7, 2024, and will finish in L’Aquila in central Italy on July 14th.
The race is part of the UCI Women’s World Tour. It was first held in 1988. Previously organised by Starlight / PMG Sport, in 2024, running of the event has been taken over by RCS Sport.
The 2024 event has been rebranded to Giro d’Italia Women from its previous name, the Giro d’Italia Donne. Over the years, the event has been known as the Giro Rosa (2013-2020), and prior to that as the Giro d’Italia Femminile.
With almost 12,000m of altitude gain, the route includes an individual time trial, two flat stages, three medium-mountain and two high-mountain stages with two uphill finishes.
Blockhaus is the ‘Cima Alfonsina Strada’, the highest peak of the race, established in memory of the cyclist who took part in the men’s Giro d’Italia in 1924. Scarpetta Rossa will be the Charity Partner of the race.
