Thousands of athletes were made incredibly happy yesterday, and at least as many – or probably many more – have a big disappointment to deal with: Challenge Roth sold out in just 32 seconds.
Every year, Challenge Roth is the triathlon that sells out the fastest worldwide, selling around five thousand slots within a minute. Athletes sit ready with completed entry forms well before registration opens online and then it is almost a lottery whether they get through the registration or not.
Last week, first slots for Challenge Roth were already sold. That traditionally happened the morning after the race. The night before, hundreds of triathletes were lining up to secure themselves such a coveted slot. Later this year a few hundred more slots will be sold in a final sale.
