Just like last year, this coming weekend there will be massive numbers of top athletes at the start of Challenge Barcelona. Among them several Olympians, which will undoubtedly make the race over the anomalous distance of 1500 meters of swimming, 56 kilometers of cycling and 15 kilometers of running interesting.

In total, more than 3,500 athletes will travel to the Spanish metropolis, including a large group of more than seventy professional athletes. Among them five athletes who have previously competed at the Olympic Games: Jessica Learmonth, Samuel Dickinson, Sara Pérez Sala, Russell White and Justus Nieschlag. Learmonth won gold with the British Mixed Relay Team at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, while Dickinson took bronze with the British team at the Paris Games.

Other athletes who stand out – at least on paper – include Tom Hug, Thomas Davis and Caroline Pohle. The course of Challenge Barcelona runs right through the city center.
