With over 1,300 athletes from 68 countries registering their interest before entries open, Challenge Sir Bani Yas in Abu Dhabi on 3-7 April is one of the most anticipated triathlons for 2025.

The first long distance (226km) triathlon in the UAE, Challenge Sir Bani Yas is also billed as the most unique triathlon experience in the world, as revealed by a triathlon first announced today. With the five-day racing and cultural experience based on the eco-tourism island of Sir Bani Yas, a specially chartered luxury cruise ship will provide the accommodation for athletes and their families and supporters.

On arrival in Abu Dhabi, athletes will transfer to Abu Dhabi Port to board the ship for an overnight sail to Sir Bani Yas Island. Once moored on the island, the ship and island are the epicentre of the event. Once racing is finished, after enjoying island excursions, post-race celebrations will take place while sailing back to Abu Dhabi.

For athletes and their supporters, the cruise ship not only offers luxury, all-inclusive accommodation options but endless facilities and activities to maximise the experience, with numerous restaurants, a wellness centre and pool plus, with a wide selection of berths to select from, there is something for every budget.

The official functions including the welcome dinner, awards ceremony and closing party will all take place on the cruise ship and are also all included in the subsidised accommodation rate.

“We love this concept the team at ADNEC Group have developed and can’t think of a better way to bring the triathlon community together in Abu Dhabi for Challenge Sir Bani Yas,” said Jort Vlam, Challenge Family CEO. “With the cruise ship initiative, athletes’ family and friends can join in and enjoy this unrivalled experience alongside them, as well as enjoying a host of activities for themselves. Challenge Sir Bani Yas will set a new standard in long course triathlon, both on and off the race course. With over 60 countries already represented in the pre-registrations, we’re very much looking forward to welcoming athletes and their supporters from all over the world to Abu Dhabi.”

Taking place over the long (226km) and middle (113km) distances, together with a host of community and side events, Challenge Sir Bani Yas will take place on 3-7 April 2025. General early bird entries open on 4 November with special pricing on both race entry and accommodation which must be booked concurrently.
