Wearable tech company Polar has launched a subscription-based training feature designed to offer adaptive cardio workouts tailored to individual fitness levels and recovery status.
The new feature sits alongside Polar Flow, which remains a free service. According to the company, Fitness Program does not affect the ongoing development of Polar Flow, and users can continue to import and build plans from other platforms, such as TrainingPeaks.
The new Fitness Program is available to Polar users in the European Union, Norway and the UK, with Android access from launch and iOS support expected later in Q2 2025.
Designed to integrate with Polar’s existing ecosystem, the subscription service uses heart rate data and other metrics from compatible Polar watches to build four-week personalised cardio plans. These are supported by optional strength and mobility sessions.
The company said the new feature responds to requests from its community for more flexible and motivating ways to stay active.
“We’ve listened closely to our community and built Fitness Program as a response to what they’ve told us they need,” Joonas Rajaniemi, Business Director of Services at Polar, said.
“Validated by a six-month beta period, Fitness Program is here to empower that growing community that demands a solution that not only supports long-term commitment but also makes training more enjoyable and rewarding.”
Plans adapt based on training load, recovery and sleep. Weekly and monthly milestones aim to boost motivation, while users can choose which days to train or rest. The platform supports training across different sports, with session recommendations based on physiological data.
Fitness Program is available for €9.99 per month, with a 14-day free trial for new users. It is compatible with the current Polar watch line-up as well as several previous models.
