Challenge Gunsan-Saemangeum (South Korea) just announced to offer a virtual ‘twin’ of the race by offering a digital version of their bike course, taking place on the Rouvy platform on Aug. 29, 2021. The actual real world event takes place on Oct. 3, 2021. However due to COVID-19 restrictions it’s difficult for foreigners to race in South Korea. Through this virtual bike race, Challenge Gunsan-Saemangeum is brought to them digitally.

“COVID-19 changed everything and postponed the races all over the world. But Challenge Korea won’t stop the race from taking place and aims to keep the challenges alive and to keep improving participants’ experiences”, Challenge Korea CEO Kyungho Kwak said.

The bike leg takes place on a rather flat two-lap course, that takes athletes past the ‘world’s longest seawall’ (33.9 km). In total, athletes will cover a distance of 90 km. The route is now available to all athletes using Rouvy’s virtual cycling platform.

Athletes won’t only battle for the honor and fun, but also race for some nice prizes, including three Garmin Fenix 5s Plus smartwatches, five Challenge Gunsan-Saemangeum 2022 entries, and five Challenge Gunsan-Saemangeum 2021 race packages.

The race – free and open to all Rouvy users – kicks off at 7 PM CET on Aug. 29, 2021.
