Germany’s Jan Frodeno just announced that he will be racing Challenge Gran Canaria later this month. It promises to be an exciting race on Apr. 24, 2021 – not only because Frodeno will be there, but because of others on the start list that includes some strong competitors. Among others, Sebastian Kienle (GER), Patrick Lange (GER), Pieter Heemeryck (BEL), Pablo Dapena Gonzalez (ESP) and Andi Böcherer (GER) have confirmed they will compete.

“After a quick pitstop, we’re back racing again”, Frodeno shares on social media. “Ten days and counting to Challenge Gran Canaria, with a good-looking course and some decent hills to climb. Game on.”

It’s not that long ago since we had a chance to enjoy Frodeno’s racing. Last month he proved he is in great shape, running away from the competition at Challenge Miami. That was despite pre-race preparations that weren’t ideal – Frodeno missed his flight because of problems with his travel documents.

Lisa Norden and Nicola Spirig racing Challenge Gran Canaria

The women’s race promises an exciting battle, too, with race favorites Lisa Norden (SWE) and Nicola Spirig (SUI), who were involved in a photo-finish at the Olympics in London 2012. Spirig turned out to be just ahead of the Swede and took gold.
