The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) has stepped up to support another pro race during the tough times athletes have been facing during the COVID-19 pandemic, this time in one of the sport’s training hotspots, Girona, Spain. The PTO will provide an additional €12,000 to the existing prize purse of €30,000 for the Spanish Long Distance Triathlon Championship to be held on May 30th as part of the 140.6INN International Triathlon.
The full-distance race is set on the Costa Brava coast and features a 3.8 km swim in Platja d’Aro, followed by a 180 km bike with 2,100 m of climbing and a four-lap 42.2 km run along the Platja d’Aro promenade.
Saleta Castro and Judith Corachan highlight entrants in the pro women’s field, while Emilio Aguayo and Victor Arroyo headline the large pro men’s field. You can find the full race entry list here.
