Lucy Charles-Barclay has a busy June race schedule, it would appear. Yesterday we learned that she’ll be competing at the World Triathlon Championship Series Leeds race on June 6, and today we find out that she’ll be one of the marquee athletes at Dorney Triathlon on June 13, an event that will be supported by the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO).

The PTO will provide a £12,000 prize purse along with media and marketing support for the race. Pros will also be able to earn points towards Collins Cup qualification. Team Europe Captain, Chrissie Wellington, will also be at the race and will no-doubt be looking for standout performances as she gauges athletes for her captain’s picks for Team Europe.

“I am very excited to watch this race as well as spot any PTO Professionals who could make the grade as a possible Captain’s Picks for Team Europe,” Wellington says. “There are so many great British and European athletes, it will be a tough decision.”

The professional race in Dorney Lake includes a 1.8 km swim, a 12-lap, 60 km bike and a three-lap 15 km run.

“Given the UK’s continuing restrictions on travel we are very grateful to find opportunities to support local and regional races, our national federations and our triathlon community,” says PTO Executive Chairman Charles Adamo.
