At the beginning of 2021, if you had asked most triathlon fans who was most likely to win the Olympics in Tokyo last summer, they would likely have told you Vincent Luis. The Frenchman had won two straight world titles and was a dominant force at Super League events.

The second of a four-part series produced by Super League Triathlon, “Invincible,” takes viewers behind the scenes to see Luis try to get back to gold-medal form after a calf injury sidelined him months out from the Olympic Games in Tokyo. While Luis had to “settle” with a 13th-place finish in the individual race in Tokyo, he helped France to a bronze medal in the mixed relay, the country’s first Olympic medal.

The video follows Luis through the emotional time after the Games, along with the challenging September Super League Triathlon Championship Series races, during which he makes a trip to the 2012 Olympic venue to remember Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee’s gold- and bronze-medal performances. Will Luis be able to provide a similar thrill to the French crowd on hand at the Paris Olympics for his final season of short-distance racing in 2024?
