Seven years ago, his life was completely different from what it’s like today. Triathlon changed the life of Britain’s Andy Stone, who dealt with depression and alcoholism. That’s all in the past now, though. Nowadays, Stone works hard towards a huge goal: finishing 70 Middle Distance triathlons in 70 days. “Having never achieved anything particularly previously to this, it is now my time,” he told the BBC in an interview.

It still takes a while before Stone takes on this challenge, but he’s training hard. From Apr. 4 until Jun. 12, 2022, Stone will give it his all to complete 70 Middle Distance triathlons. To get used to the idea, Stone already completed 17 triathlons of 17 miles within 17 days and 35 triathlons of 35 miles within 35 days earlier this year. With these challenges he collected over 4000 euros for charites that support people who struggle with their mental health and addiction. With his next challenge Stone will again raise funds for charities involved in this field.

That Stone would be able to do all these triathlons, he would have never imaged a few years ago. “When you are in the midst of depression and alcohol abuse, just getting through the day is enough,” he told BBC.
