After an up and down year that saw her in great form early then be under the weather at the Collins Cup in August and suffer at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship last September, Daniela Ryf says she will get her first “reality check” on March 5 when she looks to defend her title at Ironman 70.3 Dubai. Also on the entry list for the race in Dubai is Tokyo Olympic gold medalist, Kristian Blummenfelt, who, like Ryf is part of the Bahrain Endurance 13 team. Blummenfelt is currently at a high-altitude training camp as he gears up for his season opener.

Ryf will face some fast competition in Dubai, especially in the form of Germany’s Laura Philipp and Daniela Bleymehl, who are both entered in the race.

Blummenfelt’s main competition is likely to come from the men’s defending champion Daniel Baekkegard (DEN), while last year’s runner-up Filipe Azevedo is also entered in the race.
