Not only Swiss’ Daniela Ryf, but also Germany’s Laura Philipp, has decided to donate her prize money from Ironman 70.3 Dubai to charities supporting the people of Ukraine. With these two women in first and second place, today’s event lead to the biggest possible donation.

Philipp ended up taking the gold, winning an amount of 2500 US dollar. Ryf had to settle for second place, winning 2000 US dollar. That came down to a total of 4500 US dollar for Ukraine. It’s a relatively low amount of prize money, given the fact that Ironman paid their lowest amount of prize money at the event: 15,000 US dollar had to be shared among ten athletes, the fastest five men and women.

Ryf already announced to donate her prize money to the Swiss Red Cross. To which charity Philipp will donate her prize money hasn’t been announced so far.
