Only a few weeks until we will see some of the world’s best triathletes battle each other at Challenge Roth (Jul. 3, 2022). Besides the defending champion, Patrick Lange, also Challenge Roth record holder Jan Frodeno and young talent Sam Long will take each other on. The latter have an interesting way of building up the tension between them. Like he did before – then for the Collins Cup – Jan Frodeno talks some “trash” about Sam Long’s swimming. Of course, he could count on a sharp comeback from the American.

Earlier this week, on Instagram, Frodeno wrote: “Sam Long left a voice message. Something about being excited to see me at Challenge Roth. Couldn’t catch the rest, it sounded like he was struggling underwater.”

Long may need to work a bit on his swimming, the young talent can be quite a challenge to the GOAT during the other two disciplines. Also, it’s been a while since we last saw Frodeno race. “I feel honored that Jan Frodeno came out of retirement to come race me at Challenge Roth”, Long jokes. “Just as a reminder – I know it’s been a while for you – we have to run 42.2 km.”
