With Nicola Spirig, Holly Lawrence, Daniel Baekkegard and Sam Laidlow as Team Europe Captain’s Picks for the Collins Cup, Frederic Funk is a little bit disappointed about not being picked for the race in Samorin, Slovakia. “As I had high hopes with my consistent good results on the Middle Distance over the last year and because I’m not doing Long Distance yet, it’s almost impossible to qualify over the current ranking system.”
That being said, Funk it not bashing the system or whatsoever. “Of course I totally respect the decision of the Team Europe Captains and Professional Triathletes Organization. Nevertheless I’ll be backing up Team Europe once again as alternate athlete and race World Triathlon Long Distance Championship in Samorin, which is the 100k distance as well this year.”
