It’s been more than three years, but in 2023 Ironman will return to Lima, Peru, for Ironman 70.3 Peru. The race was last held in 2019, but is now scheduled again for Sunday Apr. 23, 2023. Registration for the event opens today.
The race will take athletes from Aqua Dulce beach through the Pacific Ocean and along the coast. The 90K bike part will contain three laps on an out-and-back course over the highway following the coastline. It’s a relatively flat course, good for some fast times. There are still a couple of “cheeky hills” part of it, though. The run part will have two loops – also out-and-back – that follows the beach path.
“Peru is one of the world’s most varied countries. It is a multicultural nation, filled with traditions, a unique gastronomy, and vast natural reserves. It is home to 12 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and 84 of the planet’s 117 life zones”, Ironman adds.
