Kristian Blummenfelt may have won the World Championship Ironman 70.3 last weekend, but perhaps the man most spectators enjoyed was Ben Kanute. The American pro athlete caused a huge surprise by passing Blummenfelt very quickly into the run and then taking the lead in the race for more than 10 kilometers. ‘That felt like a win’.

It’s not surprising that Kanute sees it that way, after he had a pretty tough year. “I laid it on the line, and had the performance I was looking for all year. Some of the most fun I have had racing, and thank you to everyone who believed in me, and to all of the amazing cheers out on the course.”
