Challenge Family has reinforced its commitment to improving sustainable event production by partnering with I Feel Wood, producer of 100% sustainable wooden medals and trophies.
A release from Challenge Family noted that… ‘I Feel Wood takes care of every single detail of the manufacturing process, starting from the choice of wood, which has both recycled origins and comes from sustainable forestry, to the medal ribbon being made of OEKO-TEX certified thread (certified free of harmful substances), including rPET thread type (made from recycled plastic bottles), and finally to the energy used throughout the process, which comes from 100% renewable sources.’
“It is our responsibility as a major triathlon series to minimize our impact on the earth as much as we can,” said Jort Vlam, Challenge Family CEO.
“The originality of the I Feel Wood product means each of our races can produce unique medals and trophies that represent their local culture while helping minimize their carbon footprint. The quality of these items means the athletes will treasure them as a meaningful memory of their achievements while knowing they were responsibly produced.”
I Feel Wood CEO, Alberto Tornos, said “For I Feel Wood, having the opportunity to collaborate alongside a benchmark in the triathlon world like Challenge is a privilege and an honour.
“Knowing, moreover, that attention to the environment and sustainability is such an important point for an organisation like this, motivates us greatly in the continuation of our work.”
