Patrick Lange finished second at Challenge Roth yesterday and broke the world marathon record (in a Long Distance) with a time of 2:30:27. Afterwards he was full of compliments about the race:

“New Marathon World Record on the Long Distance at Challenge Roth. The atmosphere in Roth was world-class today, surpassing all previous years! Amazing energy at this race.

“I had a strong start with a great swim, positioning myself well for the bike leg. Despite the formidable cycling skills of Magnus Ditlev, I worked hard with triathlete Ben Kanute to stay somehow close to the leaders. But their ride was simply mind-blowing.

“As soon as my feet hit the ground I had one goal in mind at that was to get the fastest possible marathon done. I finished with a time of 2:30:27h, setting a new best for the long-distance marathon. Delighted with my second-place finish at Challenge Roth, my first long-distance race of 2023.

“Thanks to the amazing team at challenge Roth, the volunteers and the amazing 300.000 spectators along the course!”
