Generally, the organization is receiving some negative comments so far, but the world-famous Alpe d’Huez Triathlon is moving to a rolling start, which means athletes start their race one at a time and not at the same time anymore.

According to the organizers of the world-famous race, the choice was made in the interest of the athletes. “The Alpe d’Huez Triathlon is growing and needs to evolve”, said by Race Director Cyrille Neveu. “Since the first edition, we’ve seen a gradual evolution in the discipline and its participants. It’s true that the Alpe d’Huez Triathlon mass-start was a classic for some people. But our mission is to offer the best possible experience to our participants. We try to listen to them and always make our decisions for the benefit of the majority. That’s not easy, because on a festival event like ours, which welcomes triathletes from 5 continents, approaches and even sporting cultures can diverge. Personally, I want to believe that our authenticity is not based on maintaining a mass-start, as classic as that may be, but more on the fact that the event also belongs to its community: it is the community that supports it and drives it forward according to its vision and its plurality. We are the guardians of this perpetual questioning.
