At a time when major races are almost constantly increasing their prize purses, Challenge Roth is also joining the trend: the leading race in Germany is increasing its prize pool for next year by a whopping 115 percent. Incidentally, this choice is logically motivated not only by leniency toward professional athletes, but also out of fear of being passed by other races.
The top ten finishers of the next years Challenge Roth will benefit from the increase in prize money. The total prize money will be 160,000 euros, up from 74,500 euros last edition. Winners will be credited with 30,000 euros next year, runner-ups will be rewarded with 20,000 euros and the numbers three athletes will go home with 10,000 euros. Fourth and fifth position finishers will earn 7,000 and 5,000 euros respectively.
