Nice may be losing the Ironman World Championship starting next year as the most important race of Ironman moves back to Kona in its entirety, but that doesn’t mean there will be no more championships in the famous city of France: Ironman has given the Ironman 70.3 World Championships for 2026 and 2028 to Nice. In addition to 2026 and 2028, the option to host the IM 70.3 World Championship in 2030 once again was also immediately added to the contract.
This news was published at the same day Ironman announced the Ironman World Championship will once again take place in one location and on one date. While the triathlon world reacted very positively to that decision, it was logically less good news for the organization of Ironman Nice, which thus saw a major championship race disappear. In the coming years, though, several IM 70.3 World Championship races will come in return.
