Cassandre Beaugrand keeps breaking national records: after previously breaking the French 5K road record (14:53 in Monaco, 2025) and very recently the national 10K road record (30:52, April 2026), she has now broken the French 5000 meters track record. Yesterday evening, the French Olympic triathlon champion clocked 14:40.77, over three seconds faster than the former record that had been held by Margaret Maury for twenty years.
Beaugrand is preparing for the triathlon season but has not yet raced this year. A few weeks ago, she traveled to Samarkand, Uzbekistan, to compete in the first WTCS of this year, but fell ill shortly before the race and was forced to withdraw. Meanwhile, it is clear that Beaugrand’s (running) form is in excellent shape, which will undoubtedly strike fear into her competitors.
Later this month, Beaugrand hopes to finally race her first triathlon of the year: she is on the start list for WTCS Alghero.
