The American Ari Klau has just won Ironman 70.3 Mont-Tremblant. In a race where no truly big names were at the start line – making the dynamic completely open and exciting – Klau proved to be exceptionally strong throughout the entire day.
Actually, that is not entirely true, as Klau was only in 24th place during the swim, trailing the leaders by nearly four minutes. On the bike, however, he managed to pick up the pace rapidly, gaining not only time but also many positions. Once back in T2, he was actually in third place, just fifteen seconds behind leader Joshua Berles and one second behind Luke Jones. During the run, Klau distanced himself from everyone almost immediately and ran virtually unchallenged to victory.
Below is the top eight.
