With the withdrawal of Laura Philipp, who pulled out a few days ago, Challenge Roth lost a big name and some of its prestige in one fell swoop. However, that loss is instantly made up for today, as none other than the British Lucy Charles-Barclay has just announced she will be competing this Sunday.
The former Challenge Roth winner and former Ironman World Champion returned from a long-term injury period this year and won Ironman Lanzarote just last month. “Very excited to announce…I will be lining up at Challenge Roth this Sunday. I really can’t believe it! Thank you so much to the whole team for allowing me to come and race. Having goosebumps on the phone call to Felix yesterday cemented that this is 100% the right decision. See you all in Roth.”
