Following the loss of Marbella as an Ironman venue – with the organization recently choosing nearby Malaga as the new location for an event – the Spanish city will not have to wait long for a new race. The city has just announced that it signed a contract with the PTO to become the sole Spanish city to host a T100 race.
According to the city, the announcement of a new T100 event is a milestone to place Marbella back on the international sports calendar, after Ironman not only relocated the race but also took away the latest 70.3 World Championship venue with it.
While several T100 races have taken place in Spain over recent years, the locations have changed in rapid succession.
