The wait is finally over for triathlon fans. Reigning T100 World Champion Kate Waugh makes her highly anticipated season debut on the T100 circuit this weekend in Vancouver. After a stellar 2025 campaign that culminated in a thrilling Grand Final victory in Qatar to claim the world title and top spot in the global PTO rankings, the British star was forced to watch the early stages of the 2026 season from the sidelines.
A frustrating recurring injury prevented Waugh from toeing the line at the opening races of the series. While she briefly returned to action on the short-course circuit – securing a podium finish at the World Triathlon Cup in Chengdu – the injury flared up again prior to scheduled longer distance appearances. Now fully recovered, rebuilt, and back to full health, Waugh arrives in Vancouver eager to make up for lost time and test herself against the best in the world once again.
Biggest contenders, possibly an all-British showdown
The biggest contenders appear to include Georgia Taylor-Brown, Imogen Simmonds, Alanis Siffert, Julie Derron, Taylor Spivey, Sara Perez Sala, Ellie Salthouse, and Paula Findlay. There seems to be a strong chance that Taylor-Brown, who secured her first T100 victory in Spain back in May, and Kate Waugh could turn this into an all-British showdown.”
