It didn’t turn out to be the farewell Jan Frodeno was hoping for. Of course he wanted to win one more time at the Ironman World Championship in Nice. Soon into the race it became clear that that would not be in the cards, and during the marathon Frodeno even made it some kind of a ‘farewell tour’. Competitors were encouraged, family hugged and high-fives were handed out to the crowd.
“Adiós, Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehen. Today I died doing the sport I love. Tomorrow, and in the coming months, I will reflect on all and everything that happened on this incredible journey.”
