In not necessarily the strongest race, but at the beautiful backdrop where tomorrow’s Challenge Istanbul will also take place, Maxime Hueber-Moosbrugger and Tanja Neubert have just won the Europe Triathlon Cup Istanbul.
Especially in the men’s race, it was pretty exciting since the decision only fell in the final meters and the difference between the two fastest men was only one second at the finish line. It was Frenchman Hueber-Moosbrugger who won the race in a time of 1:42:18, staying just one second ahead of Hungarian Gergely Kiss. The podium was completed by Brit Harry Leleu, who in turn stayed five seconds ahead of his compatriot Ben Dijkstra and thus finished third.
In the women’s race, Tanja Neubert’s performance was impressive; after a somewhat disappointing swim in the Bosporus, she had to bike in pursuit. She succeeded, and after joining the front group, she finally made the difference during the run. Neubert won the race in 1:54:39, staying 19 seconds ahead of her compatriot Selina Klamt, who finished second in 1:54:58. France’s Lea Coninx finished third in 1:55:33.
