Anyone who thought Alex Yee might have lost a step after his dazzling London Marathon debut – which he completed in an incredible 2:11:08 – has been proven completely wrong. Just two weeks after winning the season’s first Supertri event in Toronto, the British Olympic Triathlon Champion has now rewritten his track credentials in spectacular fashion.
At the IFAM Meeting in Oordegem, Belgium, Yee tore through the 5,000m in a blistering 13:13, obliterating his previous best of 13:29. Clocking an average pace of just under 2:39 per kilometre, Yee showed the kind of speed that turns heads in both athletics and triathlon circles.
