In an online cycling world where giants like Zwift and Rouvy dominate the conversation, MyWhoosh often seems to fade into the background. This is quite remarkable, especially since the platform is entirely free to use. However, the coming weeks are bound to see significantly more buzz around MyWhoosh, if only because of the upcoming MyWhoosh World Championships. Featuring a staggering $1 million prize pool, the event offers literally everyone a shot at winning substantial amounts of money.
The MyWhoosh World Championships will kick off on July 7, with the prize money distributed across six categories (divided by performance levels). Additionally, there will be prizes for the top teams, as well as sprint and climbing classifications. Men and women will earn equal amounts, and riders holding a wattage of 3.5 watts per kilo (men) or 2.5 watts per kilo (women) stand a genuine chance at taking home prize money. This means motivated hobby riders can easily compete for impressive payouts. The race itself is a fully-fledged seven-stage event, starting on July 7 and concluding on July 14. Men will cover 436 kilometers with 5,463 meters of climbing, while the women’s route features 316 kilometers and 4,156 meters of elevation gain.
“Our ambition for 2026 is to make the MyWhoosh Championships accessible to as many riders as possible,” said Matt Smithson, Director of Esports and Game Operations at MyWhoosh. “It’s a true seven-day stage race, so it should feel like a major athletic challenge, but it is not reserved exclusively for the absolute elite. An amateur rider who can sustain around 3.5 w/kg in the men’s category and 2.5 w/kg in the women’s category has every reason to show up at the start line, race hard, and compete for a real result and prize money.”
Smithson continued: “Our $1,000,000 prize pool isn’t just about grabbing headlines. We want to create opportunities throughout the entire event, offering equal prize money for men and women, with prizes spread across different categories, teams, and classifications. If we want this to be our biggest championship ever, it needs to feel both accessible and ambitious.”
