She remains completely undefeated: Cassandre Beaugrand has just stormed to victory at WTCS Weihai following a thrilling direct showdown with Beth Potter and Lisa Tertsch. The three world champions ran shoulder-to-shoulder until the final kilometer, where Beaugrand once again proved unstoppable.
This was the race everyone had been anticipating for weeks – and for good reason. Beaugrand, Potter, and Tertsch went head-to-head in a clash that could prove decisive for the ultimate WTCS series standings. While Tilly Anema posted the fastest swim split and a massive lead group stayed together on the bike, those dynamics ultimately took a backseat. The race came down to the run, where the trio quickly broke clear of the field.
Though a large pack headed out of T2 together, Beaugrand, Potter, and Tertsch rapidly established themselves as the fastest athletes on the course. In a spectacular tactical battle, all three ran together late into the race. However, with roughly one kilometer to go, Beaugrand unleashed a decisive surge. Tertsch was the first to drop, followed shortly by Potter, who had no answer to the French star’s crushing pace.
Beaugrand claimed the victory in 1:49:20, with Potter finishing second six seconds back, and Tertsch rounding out the podium in third, 24 seconds off the winner. Thanks to her victory, Beaugrand takes the lead in the WTCS-series.
