In a huge accident yesterday, five cyclists died in Las Vegas after they were fatally hit by a truck. Authorities describt it as a “horrific tragedy” in which, in addition to the five fatalities, four other athletes were injured, with one in critical condition.
According to reports, a southbound truck hit a group of 20 cyclists and five were pronounced dead at the scene. One of the four injured cyclists suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to University Medical Center, according to officials. The truck driver was uninjured and cooperated with investigators on the scene.
Governor Steve Sisolak said in a statement: “I was devastated to hear this news. I’m sending all my love to the families affected and to those on the scene responding to the situation.”
