Europe Triathlon (what we used to know as the European Triathlon Union) will hold its annual general assembly virtually next week on Saturday, March 6.

In addition to the elections of the new board, the meeting will serve as an opportunity for the board to work on a new four-year plan for the organization through the next Olympic cycle. In his report, President Renato Bertrandi (ITA) will outline some of the successes the group has enjoyed since 2017, including: inclusion into the 2023 European Games, the 2022 European Sport Championships, the European Youth Olympics and to “support Paratriathlon and Multisport format.” All European countries are represented in Europe Triathlon, another goal set out by the group four years ago.

“I am optimistic for our future,” Bertrandi says. “The vaccine will be the solution and, when the weaker sectors of the population become immune, we will see a light at the end of the tunnel.”

Bertrandi will return as president as there are no other nominees for the position, but there are four men vying for the Vice-President position – Martin Breedjik (NED), Bill James (GBR), Chris Kitchen (IRL) and Georgios Yeralimpos (GRE).

There are 12 people (three of them women) vying for five board positions, while 18 people (five of them women) looking for one of the seven spots available on the Technical Committee.

You can see the complete list of nominees here.
