Super Bowl XL MVP is an Ironman

Each year the Super Bowl is one of the worlds most viewed sporting events with upwards of 100 million people tuning into American Football’s flagship game.

This year’s game in Tampa, Florida (the home of Ironman’s head office) between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs won’t feature quite the same size crowd as is customary for the big game – only 25,000 people will be in attendance.

As we gear up for the 55th edition of the event we figured we’d look back at Hines Ward’s career, which included two Super Bowl wins and the most valuable player (MVP) award in the 2006 edition. When Ward retired, the wide receiver gave triathlon a try. He went on to compete in the 2013 Ironman World Championship in Kona. While Ward has said Ironman is much tougher than football, check out the video below to to see just what he thought of the sport of triathlon.
