Finally there will be some racing on European soil again. Not traditional triathlon, but rather a winter triathlon event. The 2021 World Triathlon Winter Championships takes place on Saturday and Sunday in Andorra. Over 200 athletes have come to the town of Sant Julià de Lòria in the mighty Pyrenees mountain range. In conjunction with Ironman’s inaugural Andorra Multisport Festival, this weekend’s racing marks the first of a series of races in Andorra.

“A breathtaking natural setting, nestled within the mighty Pyrenees, will be the arena where athletes will combine the disciplines of running, mountain biking and cross-country skiing across a sprawling winter landscape,” World Triathlon states in an announcement previewing the event.

On Saturday morning – 8:30 am for the men and 9:10 am for the women – the winter triathlon kicks off with eight km of running, followed by 14 km of mountain biking and completed with 12 km of cross-country skiing.
