Ever since carbon shoes were introduced, people have been even more interested in what shoes pro triathletes are wearing. While we used to talk mainly about bikes, shoes have become a hot topic, too, since results suggest different brands can make a big difference in our times. But what brand is most popular among pro triathletes, and what results can we link to their shoes? Nike and Hoka shoes were by far most popular when we look at the top fifteen of Challenge Miami.
Eleven of the top 15 women wore Nike shoes. Either the Nike Vaporfly Next %, or the newest Nike Alphafly Next %. Three women wore Hoka and one the Newton Distance 10. In the men’s race a smaller majority ran on Nike: eight out of 15. But Jan Frodeno, the winner of the men’s race, ran on the new Hoka Rocket X. At the top of the men’s race there was more variety when it comes to shoes than in the women’s race. Besides all the Nike runners, three men wore Hoka, another three men ran on On Running’s newest shoe (the Cloudboom), and one – Pablo Dapena Gonzalez – ran on the Brooks Hyperion Elite 2.
