Athletes’ patience was definitely put to the test, but the news they’ve all been waiting for is finally here: the Olympic and Paralympic Qualification Rankings reopen as of May 1, 2021. With the Olympics just a few months away, it was about time. Athletes will have until Jun. 21 to put togerther a perfect race and claim an Olympic spot. For Paralympic athletes the deadline is Jul. 15.
Since the Asian Championships take place just before May. 1, an exception has been made for this race. There will be six races in which athletes will have a chance to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics: the World Triathlon Championship Series Yokohama and Leeds, and the World Cups in Osaka, Lisbon, Arzachena and Huatulco. The continental championships and Mixed Relay Qualification Event will also take place during this period.
