Finally another Europe Triathlon Cup (formerly ETU Cup) was held, giving France’s Cassandre Beaugrand and Léo Bergere a chance to shine again. Both top athletes won the race, albeit by small margins.

Bergere, in particular, had to pull out all the stops to stay ahead of compatriot Dorian Coninx. Bergere crossed the line in 49:06, 10 seconds ahead of Coninx, who took the silver. The difference came down to the run, and Coninx still had to sprint for that silver medal, as he ended up just one second ahead of Israel’s Shachar Sagiiv, who finished third.

Cassandre Beaugrand had a slightly larger margin, finishing the race in 57:07, with Italy’s Angelica Olmo crossing the line in second, 18 seconds after the Frenchwoman. Olmo was more than half a minute behind after the 750-meter swim, but made up the deficit during the bike, but wasn’t able to stay with Beaugrand through the run. Frenchwoman Leonie Periault finished third in a time of 57:27.
