With all its full-distance races already at capacity this year (mostly through entry deferments after races were “postponed” last year), Ironman has come up with a way to provide some more full-distance race opportunities in the United States. The company has just announced Ironman Waco, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, the day before Ironman 70.3 Waco.

General registration for the Ironman Waco event will open on Monday, April 19, 2021 at www.ironman.com/im-waco.

“The demand we have seen for the full-distance triathlons since the beginning of the year is just astounding and we are delighted to bring an Ironman triathlon to Waco, Texas to create additional racing opportunities for athletes,” says Keats McGonigal, Vice President of Operations, North America for The Ironman Group.

Waco has hosted a 70.3 race since 2018.

The full-distance race features a 3.8 km swim in the Brazos River, a 180 km bike through rural Central Texas, followed by a 42.2 km run crossing “the historic bridges that decorate the Brazos River and the surrounding Waco area.

Earlier today Ironman announced the brand new Ironman 70.3 Oregon already.
